Wataha Ultra Race – Zima “Lasy Północy”

Event Overview:
The Wataha Ultra Race – Zima “Lasy Północy” is an extreme winter ultramarathon cycling event traversing the historic Świętokrzyska Forest region. Participants will navigate gravel paths through the ancient forests and hills of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, experiencing the raw beauty and challenges of winter cycling.
Distances:
- Long Paw: 200-230 km with ~2100 m elevation gain; 20-hour time limit.
- Medium Paw: 100-130 km with ~1300 m elevation gain; 15-hour time limit.
- Short Paw: 80 km with ~800 m elevation gain; 10-hour time limit.
Course Details:
The routes feature long, forested gravel roads and asphalt connectors, designed for speed and dynamism to prevent hypothermia and ensure efficient progress in winter conditions. Special segments labeled “You’ll Howl” are minimized to maintain safety, especially in snowy conditions. The course is intended to be safe in snowy conditions and very fast in dry conditions.
Support:
Participants will be monitored via Poltrax tracking, with on-course support vehicles and nutrition points available. Routes overlap in sections, allowing participants to switch between distances at designated transfer points during the race.
Additional Information:
Detailed GPX files and maps will be provided in late December after course reconnaissance. Final GPX files will be distributed with the start communiqué a few days before the event.
