Gravmageddon: Karkonosze–Izery Gravel Race is an annual ultra-endurance gravel cycling event set in the picturesque regions of the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains. Celebrated as one of Poland’s most challenging gravel races, it offers participants a choice between two demanding routes:
•Long Route: Approximately 350 km with an elevation gain of around 7,500 meters, to be completed within a 60-hour time limit.
•Short Route: Approximately 150 km with an elevation gain of over 2,900 meters, with a 36-hour time limit.
The race operates under a self-supporting principle, requiring cyclists to be self-sufficient in navigation, provisioning, and equipment maintenance throughout the journey. The course traverses diverse terrains, including forest paths, field roads, and asphalt, making it well-suited for gravel bikes. Participants will experience some of the most scenic and challenging landscapes in the region, with routes extending into the Czech side of the mountains.
The upcoming fifth edition of Gravmageddon is scheduled for August 1–3, 2025, with the start and finish located in Szklarska Poręba.
