The Atlas Mountain Race is a fixed-route, unsupported, single-stage cycling race that begins in Marrakesh, traverses the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, and concludes in Essaouira on the Atlantic coast. Riders will encounter a diverse array of terrains, including high mountain passes, arid plains, and remote oases, predominantly on gravel, single and double tracks, and old colonial pistes. The route is known for its minimal tarmac sections, requiring participants to be self-sufficient and prepared for extended stretches between resupply points.
